Annual General Meeting 27-6-2021

On Sunday, June 27th, 2021 at 11:00 the annual general meeting will be held in Taverna Triantamia in Kalivia.

New homes for Vettel and Verity

After spending the first 2 years of their lives with us in the shelter, Vettel and Verity finally traveled to their forever homes in Germany.

We want to say a big thank you to Birte & Stephan, who adopted Vettel.

Not only they came over themselves to pick up their dog and take Verity with them as well, they also paid all expenses of the transport to Thessaloniki and collected the dogs from our HalfWayHouse in Theologos.

It saved us a lot of work and money.

We wish both families a happy life with their new dogs.

We welcome Lisa.

This German shepherd dog was owned by a man in Limenaria who died a while ago. His wife, an older lady, couldn't take care of it. She felt sorry for the dog and asked our help.

Lisa had a reasonable good life, living freely on a fenced plot. Our first impression is that she is friendly and didn't show agression to her neighbour dog in our small enclosure.

She is a big girl and quite strong.

We thank Mrs. Georgia for her donation towards vaccinations etc.

GOOD NEWS FOR SETTER ALBERT

Soon after Albert was found in September the family who adopted setter Lord from us 2 years ago, decided to take Albert as well. After long waiting we finally managed to book him a ticket on the bus of Thompson Pet Travel and he will leave next week to the UK.

Not only was a lot of (new) paperwork involved but also this way of transport is a lot more expensive then a flight ticket. But to the UK there is no other way to do it.

In this case we are talking big money: the ticket for the bus, the fee for importing a dog to the UK and… Albert needs to be brought to Igoumenitsa. All together it will cost us about € 750!

For us the most important thing is to get a dog to his new home, to start a new life, no matter what it costs. And we are very grateful that Nicky, Albert’s new mum, will pay a substantial part of the costs. But there still will be some money left to pay. That and having quite large debts at 2 of the vets on the island puts us in a difficult position. Certainly because we don’t know what this summer will bring, will we have income from tourism again or will it be as bad as last year?

THEREFOR WE ASK FOR YOUR HELP. If you can spare a few euros, please donate it to us so we can pay our vet bills and buy food for our dogs. Every little bit helps.

Cat castrations

With the budget provided by the municipality and the donation of Mrs. Beels from The Netherlands, a total of 137 cats (male and female) have been castrated.

We know, still a drop in the ocean, but it is many many kittens less and 137 animals who will have a better life.

We hope for more donations, so we can go on with this never ending project.
