Cat castrations

With the budget provided by the municipality and the donation of Mrs. Beels from The Netherlands, a total of 137 cats (male and female) have been castrated.

We know, still a drop in the ocean, but it is many many kittens less and 137 animals who will have a better life.

We hope for more donations, so we can go on with this never ending project.

YACCO (again)

YACCO

Yacco grew up with his siblings at Tanja’s. His siblings were homed and Tanja decided to keep Yacco.

After a few months he started attacking one of her dogs, the “lowest” of her pack. After trying several things nothing improved. So Yacco had to move to our shelter where he stayed separated from the other dogs.

It appeared that he was really very unhappy like this. So we tried to let him in with some of the other dogs. But after 15 minutes walking around he already found “the lowest” dog and attacked him.

We don’t easily give up on an animal, but with Yacco we have reached our limits. What to do?

Keep him in our shelter separated, being unhappy for the rest of his life?

Euthanise him to stop him having an unhappy life? This is really the very last thing we would do to an animal.

Or… look for that needle in the haystack. That one person that says: I will take Yacco, I will save him and do everything possible to give him a good life.

Yacco is not an aggressive dog in general. Only with dogs and then again not with all dogs. He is fine with humans and even with cats.

Yacco wuchs mit seinen Geschwistern bei Tanja auf. Seine Geschwister wurden vermittelt und Tanja beschloss, Yacco zu behalten.

Nach ein paar Monaten fing er an, einen ihrer Hunde anzugreifen, den „niedrigsten“ ihres Rudels. Nachdem sie einige Dinge ausprobiert hatte, verbesserte sich nichts. Also musste Yacco in unser Tierheim ziehen, wo er von den anderen Hunden getrennt blieb.

Es war klar, dass er so wirklich sehr unglücklich war. Also haben wir versucht, ihn mit einigen der anderen Hunde hereinzulassen. Aber nach 15 Minuten fand er bereits „der niedrigste“ Hund und griff ihn an.

Wir geben ein Tier nicht so einfach auf, aber mit Yacco sind wir an unsere Grenzen gestoßen. Was zu tun?

Ihn in unserem Tierheim getrennt halten und für den Rest seines Lebens unglücklich sein?

Ihn einschläfern, um zu verhindern, dass er ein unglückliches Leben führt? Dies ist wirklich das allerletzte, was wir einem Tier antun würden.

Oder ... suchen nach dieser Stecknadel im Heuhaufen. Diese eine Person, die sagt: Ich werde Yacco nehmen, ich werde ihn retten und alles tun, um ihm ein gutes Leben zu geben.

Yacco ist im Allgemeinen kein aggressiver Hund. Nur mit Hunden und dann wieder nicht mit allen Hunden. Er ist gut mit Menschen und sogar mit Katzen.
